ISO R974, ASTM D746-73

IZOD CHARPY IMPACT TESTER

Charpy + Izod + Tension + Puncture + Component
The pendulum release height and weight determines the impact energy. The final swing height position of the pendulum after breaking a test sample is subtracted from the release height and this equates to the energy loss to break the test sample. Adjustments are made for the parasitic lossess, such as friction and windage, which are found during the calibration carried out before each test.

Complies with Standard(s)
ISO 180, ISO 179, DIN 51222, BS 2782 : Part 3 : Method 359, BS 2782 : Part 3 : Method 350, ASTM D5942, ASTM D5941, ASTM D256

Puncture Impact Testing - Thin Materials

Determines the energy required to puncture the material returning the results in joules

Test results are more accurate than the falling dart method, as the pendulum principle is used to determine the energy loss.

Rubber Hardness Reference Blocks

Durometer Hardness - Rubber Reference Blocks.
Provides a quick reference to check if the Instrument is operating correctly

Complies with Standard(s)
ASTM D2240

Freezer Cabinet

Free Standing Unit to -45 deg C
For the preparation of Test Samples for testing at sub zero temperatures

Special Test Rig

The company must produce safety certificates to show the load carrying capacity of the new polymer plank. The special test rig supports the plank at different span distances and a load is applied to the mid-point. Both the applied load and the deflection of the plank is measured up to the fracture point and the results graphically presented

Tensile Tester

On-board long term data storage and retieval option. Standard language options available. Power - 110/125/220/240/415 volts 50/60Hz

PC Controlled Tensile Tester

The PC using the well proven winTest software provides total flexability. Test methods can be stored together with the appropriate set up and the PC controls the tests and provides user defined calcuation procedures

Thermal Ageing (Endurance) In Air Oven

Test sample are suspended in a precisely controlled environment with temperature controlled air continually being circulated through each Test Cell at a constant flow. The Test Samples are checked for Thermal Aging at set Time Intervals and the condition recorded.

Complies with Standard(s)
BS 903, BS 6746, BS 5691, ASTM E95

Unrestrained Linear Thermal Shrinkage Hot Plate Method

Test Sample of the material is cut and its orientation with respect to the manufacturing process marked. It is then lightly coated with Silicone Oil and placed on the Hot Plate for the required time, after which its measured and the shrinkage determined.

Complies with Standard(s)
ASTM D2732

Unrestrained Linear Thermal Shrinkage Liquid Immersion Method

Investigates the Internal Stresses induced in the Film Material as a result of the manufacturing processes.
These stress are released when the material is heated, causing it to shrink. This test quantifies the amount of shrinkage with temperature and with respect to the production orientation of the material.

Apparent Bulk Density

The apparatus consists of a funnel, stand and measuring cup.

Different funnels and measuring cup combinations are available to suit the the material state, such as granules, powders, flakes and cut fibers, etc.

The Apparent Bulk Density measurement provides a very good indication of the handling, packing and the space requirements. The pourability parameters indicate of how well the material will flow through feed tubes and hoppers.

ISO R60, BS 2782 Method 621A, ASTM D1895 METHODS A,B,& C

The Density Balance

The Test sample is first weighed in air and again when submerged in a liquid. By determining the loss in weight which is directly proportional to the mass of the fluid it has diplaced, the specific gravity and density is readily calculated

Complies with Standard(s)
ISO 1183 Method D, ASTM D792

Digital readout Density Column

A new advancement which means that density measurements can be made more quickly and more accuratly.

The heights of the calibrated marker floats placed in the density gradient are measured using a trammel guided "sight" connected to a positional encoder relaying the height position to a microprocessor so that the gradient can be calibrated

When a sample material is placed in the density column its height in the column is measured using the trammel system "sight" and the microprocessor then calculates the corresponding density
